2018 Hyundai Sonata Review

With one of the most spacious back seats in the class, and a versatile trim lineup, the Hyundai Sonata has always stood out in the midsize sedan category.

While the 2017 Hyundai Sonata is still the current model, the 2018 model's arrival is just around the corner! To help our local sedan seekers in Greenville, Wilson, and Rocky Mount get geared up for the 2018 Sonata's U.S. debut, Pecheles Hyundai created this sneak peek review.

Let's see what can you expect from the all-new Sonata!

An Energized Exterior

The 2018 Hyundai Sonata's new athletic aesthetics mimic many of the changes that the new Elantra wears, including a wider cascading-style grille, slimmed down headlights, and a more muscular hood.

These fresh elements set a different tone for the Sonata, one that's more assertive than its predecessor's, with its bold grille being the statement-making center piece of it all; it'll be available in two formats by trim, either filled in by mesh or chrome bars.

All Sonata trim levels will strut these updates and carry over their positions on the Sonata roster: SE, Eco, Sport, Sport 2.0T, Limited, and Limited 2.0T.

2018 Sonata Performance

The 2017 Hyundai Sonata's four engine options are applauded for their poise and power, delivering quick acceleration and impressive EPA estimates. All four of these available engines are targeted to carry over to the 2018 model, which is great news for everyone.

Here's a recap of the Hyundai Sonata's powertrain capabilities:

  • Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine options
  • Horsepower range of 178 to 245 hp
  • Max EPA-estimated 28 city/36 highway MPG in the Sonata Eco

The only equipment change that takes place for 2018 is the replacement of the standard 6-speed automatic transmission for a more advanced 8-speed automatic version.

The Inner Hyundai Sonata

The Hyundai Sonata is a space saver through and through, and the 2018 model will continue this tradition without skipping a beat.

Let's review the Sonata's impressive inner dimensions:

  • Front headroom of 40.4 inches; front legroom of 45.5 inches
  • Rear headroom of 38 inches; rear legroom of 35.6 inches
  • 16.3 cubic feet of trunk space

In addition to tons of room throughout the cabin for five passengers to get cozy, the 2018 Hyundai Sonata will still have you covered when it comes to entertainment and streamlined in-car connectivity.

Expect the return of both Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ support for easy smartphone app access on the 7- or 8-inch color touchscreen.

Keep Your Eye on the Pecheles Hyundai Showroom

While Hyundai hasn't yet nailed down an official release date for the 2018 Sonata, it's expected to arrive on dealership lots by the end of 2017.

A fresh, new exterior, updated transmission, and the 2017 model's best features make the all-new Sonata one well-equipped car you don't want to miss out on!
